Venerable Samten (Barkha Mandan) has generously offered to share her film and personally offer her time to bring awareness to these important issues and support the upcoming Compassion Fest: Compassion Film Festival and Symposium here in Carbondale.

Surkhaab is a Hindi and English language Indo-Canadian film directed by Sanjay Talreja. Exploring the themes of illegal immigration and women’s empowerment, it is the cinematic tale of a woman who has to face unexpected events when she illegally immigrates to Canada to be with her younger brother.

Surkhaab’s awards include the Best Producer of a Feature Film at the Madrid International Film Festival and Best Feature Film at WorldFest Houston.

Special thanks to the Producers, Venerable Gyalten Samten and the late Vivek Kumar for creating this wonderful film and opportunity. Vivek Kumar passed away on April 6th, 2017 and it is in his memory that we aspire to support compassionate action through this event.

After the screening at the Crystal Theatre, attendees are invited to a special question and answer session with Venerable Samten (producer and lead actress).

All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the first annual Compassion Film Festival and Symposium that will be hosted in Carbondale, CO from August 17 – 19, 2018.
